BCI Cotton Overview

The Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) is a non-profit organisation founded in 2005 to change cotton production worldwide. It works to promote better standards in cotton farming practices across countries like India, Pakistan, Brazil and China. The initiative addresses environmental degradation, poor labour conditions and economic challenges faced by cotton farmers. As of 2023, BCI cotton accounts for around 22% of global cotton production with over 2.13 million farmers licensed to the programme.
